When we were in Kuala Lumpur over the holidays, we decided to give KidZania a try where Little Man could experience a different kind of play. Play with purpose or meaning if you’d like where kids get to experience real life jobs and get paid for it if they did it well within the time given. They will be paid in KidZania currency for each stint completed which in turn could be exchanged for gifts at the end of the 6 hour block of role-playing. You can choose between the morning shift of 10-3pm or 3.30-8pm. They really aim to get kids acquainted with real job situations :)
Since KidZania was situated a little further from the city centre, it allowed us a good ride and view across the city on their metro system. 45 minutes later, we were on site. This is the part where things got a little exciting, for me as well!
I have never seen anything like it and a part of me wished I could have joined in the play! The whole area is 3 storey high with various stations or “jobs” that children could have. There were post offices, fire stations, petrol kiosks, dental clinics, an airpot and flying school, ER and ambulances, restaurants and eatery chains and even a DJ booth! Wow, that certainly brought back memories. Here are some pictures if you’d like to see:

So for those of you who’d like to bring your kids there, I’d strongly recommend it. It is worth the trip. And for those who can’t travel to have a go, fret not! Singapore will soon be opening its own KidZania in Sentosa Island sometime this year! Either ways, it would be a worthwhile trip for you and children alike as demonstrated by Little Man in the picture below:

So that was quite the highlight of our trip this time round in KL. It was a wonderful break and we had so much fun just hanging around for play. For other places to bring your children during the school holidays, go here.
